27 November 2007 - Mint Wireless Limited (ASX: MNW) today announced that Australia's largest independent phone retailer, Crazy John's, has signed an agreement to sell the Mint portable payment system (Mint) to its business customers.
The agreement with Crazy John's follows the recent announcement that Optus is also offering Mint as part of a mobile payment package.
For the first time, Mint enables businesses to take payments on the spot using a mobile phone to process credit card payments printing an invoice immediately to eradicate paperwork and, critically for small businesses, speeding up their cashflow.
As an independent Vodafone dealer with their own billing platform, Crazy John's is virtually a mini-telco providing customers with just one bill, further easing the complication for businesses. Crazy John's has over 120 retail stores across Australia and more than 600 staff.
Mint's software works on Windows-based PDA phones and BlackBerrys, turning them into portable cash registers. Businesses are able to accept and process payments such as credit cards, many debit cards, cash, cheque or account. Transactions are processed wirelessly (and securely) over a GPRS or 3G mobile network, with Mint's pocket-sized printer/card reader printing a full tax invoice in seconds.
To reduce paperwork and bookkeeping time, every transaction is kept in the user's Mint online administration system, for downloading into MYOB or QuickBooks back in the office saving a business several hours per week.
"Crazy John's is committed to giving our customers the best deal and the latest technology. Small to medium enterprise is our fastest growing segment, adding Mint's solution helps our customers improve their business's capability, combined with our ability to develop bespoke solutions and provide benchmark customer fulfilment on a national basis, we are confident the proposition will prove popular"
commented Steve Morley, Head of Sales and Marketing, Crazy John's.
Alex Teoh, CEO of Mint Wireless commented, "We are really excited about the deal with Crazy John's. Mint is now available on two of Australia's major mobile networks. The ethos of Crazy John's is to provide businesses with the best service at the best price, and that is very much inline with Mint."
Whilst we are in the early stages for payment by mobile in Australia, this is a very exciting time for Mint. Mint is a product that Australian businesses, large and small, have always needed something that enables faster payment, and significantly reduces administration time. Now, with Mint on the Vodafone and Optus networks we are creating opportunities for Australian business," added Alex Teoh.
