Mint Wireless Limited turns mobile phones into cash registers for Jim's Group

31 August 2007 - Mint Wireless Limited (ASX: MNW) today announced the launch of the Mint portable payment system to over 2,200 Jim's Group franchisees in Australia. Mint will market its system to all existing and new Australian franchisees.

The Jim's Group franchisees will now be able to process payments - including credit cards - from a smartphone and print an invoice on the spot, thereby improving cash-flow and financial control as well as providing their customers with a safe and convenient method for collecting payments by credit card.

Working with Optus and Research In Motion (the company that supplies BlackBerry phones) Mint is offering every franchisee a 'bundled' phone and payment system package. The offer includes a BlackBerry smartphone, Optus data plan and a 36-month subscription to Mint's portable payment and invoicing system.

Using Mint's pocket-sized card reader and printer, wirelessly paired with a BlackBerry, a franchisee can receive an authenticated payment and print an invoice after finishing a job meaning they get paid immediately, improving their cash flow. Additionally, all transactions are kept in their Mint online administration system which can downloaded into MYOB or QuickBooks.

This significantly reduces paperwork and the need to chase up payments, keeping bad debts to the minimum. Mint offers benefits for any business, but particularly for businesses with a roving workforce such as Jim's Group franchisees where the customer can now be given the opportunity to safely pay using their credit card.

"Our affiliation with a company such as Mint gives our Franchisees the opportunity to capture their monies owed immediately combined with a full payment solution whilst providing an added convenience for all Jim's clients. Mint has provided us with a flexible payment solution that can be used across all of our divisions with ease and we look forward to a rewarding and long business relationship with them," commented Jim Penman, owner of the Jim's Group.

Mint, together with Optus and BlackBerry is now proactively marketing to the 2,200 franchisees (which incorporate all divisions from Jim's Mowing to Jim's Antennas) and is signing up franchisees to the offer.

Payment for the offer has also been simplified, as each franchisee signing up only receives one monthly bill from Optus for the service.

Additionally, Jim's franchisees can use their BlackBerrys to send and receive emails as well as for accessing the Jim's Online website to flag their availability for new work opportunities in their area.

Having the Mint payment solution and a BlackBerry smartphone with online access is a strategic move by Jim's Group which is not only good for franchisees, but also brings a new level of professionalism and convenience to customers, giving the Jim's Group a competitive edge.

Alex Teoh, CEO of Mint Wireless commented, "We are delighted to be working with one of Australia's biggest and most respected franchise organisations. Our portable payment system combined with a BlackBerry and a great value data plan from Optus means businesses now have a cost-effective way to mobilise their business and get paid faster something that Australian business has been demanding.

We are now targeting other franchise groups, industry associations and corporate entities that take payment out of the office, to offer them the increased efficiencies of our mobile payments solution," Teoh added.
